Employee Spotlight: Alex Aguilar

Tell us about yourself and how long you’ve been with Optimal Dynamics.

I joined Optimal Dynamics in November 2022. I've been living in New York City for the past five years and have been programming professionally since graduating in 2019.

Can you briefly summarize your job?

My role centers on cross-team collaboration to drive critical projects forward. I split my time between developing new features that extend our platform's capabilities and maintaining the reliability of our internal services, especially those tied to application monitoring, configuration management and automation.

What inspired you the most to join Optimal Dynamics?

I wanted to be part of a startup where I believed in the product and had room to grow. Optimal Dynamics offered both — the chance to contribute to something meaningful and unique and the opportunity to expand my skills in new directions.

What do you like best about our company culture?

I value how much Optimal Dynamics encourages creativity and exploration. There's a genuine openness to considering every possible solution before deciding on the best path forward.

What is unique about what we do at Optimal Dynamics?

Being able to take in our customers' data, run simulations via our internal engines, and produce a decision on the UI for the operator to take action on, all while accounting for hundreds of different factors, is incredibly unique.

What is your favorite part of your job?

I've had the chance to work across multiple domains — integrating with TMS/ELD providers, building our ETL pipelines, and automating workflows that once required tedious manual effort. The variety keeps the work exciting and rewarding.

How does your work impact our product, and, therefore, the industry?

Much of my focus is on making onboarding as seamless as possible for our Platform Solutions and Solutions Delivery teams. The easier it is to bring customers onto the platform, the sooner they can start realizing the tangible benefits of Optimal Dynamics’ technology.

What have been your biggest accomplishments on our team, and what was the impact on the company?

I served as the technical lead for an internal tool that has transformed how we deploy and onboard customers by making the process faster, more reliable, and transparent. It's had a direct impact on scaling our operations efficiently.

How have you grown professionally while on our team?

Since joining, I've grown from contributing to small and mid-sized projects to leading large-scale initiatives end-to-end. The mentorship and support I've received from colleagues have been invaluable in helping me step into a leadership role with confidence.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I have been playing a fair amount of tennis over the past couple of years and take WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) courses in New York.

Can you share a hidden talent no one knows about you?

I like to think I can make great pierogis, recently being designated as head pierogi maker during the holidays within my family.

What’s the best advice you can give to someone who wants to work at Optimal Dynamics?

Approach problems with the customer perspective in mind. The more you understand the customer’s challenges and goals, the better your solutions will align with delivering real value.
